Best Things to do in Capri, Italy
A compete guide of everything you need to know about Capri, Italy!
Capri just might be one of the more magical places on earth. I might be a little biased though, since we were engaged here! This guide will give you all the best things to do in Capri Italy.
If you are traveling to Italy, specifically near Rome, Sorrento, or the Almafi Coast area, you HAVE to take a day to visit Capri. Yes, it will take most of the day, if not ALL day, so plan accordingly! Here are the best things to do in Capri, Italy!

We actually stayed in Sorrento, Italy for a couple nights at the Grand Hotel Moon Valley. The hotel itself was okay, but the views… the VIEWS. I would stay here again just for the views. Just breathtaking! The sunset over the water was magical.
You will need to take a train to get the the ferry port, which is in downtown Sorrento. You can also get to the ferries to Capri from other cities if you are not stationed in Sorrento.
We used the company Navigation Libera del Golfo. We bought tickets online in advance, but you can also buy them in person once you get there. In Sorrento, the ticket office is located at the Piazza Marinai D’Italia.
Make sure you give yourself plenty of time, especially if you did not pre-book your ticket!
There are also a LOT of stairs getting down to the piazza, so keep that in mind as well. Once you get on the ferry, it takes about 20 minutes to get to Capri (from Sorrento).
The boat is huge, so you won’t have to worry if you get seasick. You can sit inside the ferry as well if it is rainy, cold, etc. I even fell asleep!

Private Boat Tour
Even though we both got SUPER sea sick (pro tip- BRING DRAMAMINE), we highly recommend booking a boat tour. If you have been researching Capri, I am sure you have heard of the Blue Grotto. You can take a cheaper and less private tour to get the the grotto, but I recommend taking a private tour instead.
We used Capri Relax Boats, which we booked online in advance. This was one of the best things to do in Capri, Italy!
The cost of this trip vs. the cost of a public tour was not that much different, so it was definitely worth it!
You get the entire boat to yourself and your significant other/family/friends, etc. and a professional to take you around the entire island of capri, and show you all the cool sights!
You can get off the boat and swim in the super blue water as well, which is awesome! The whole tour lasts about 3 hours.
Another must do is visiting Anacapri. Anacapri is the western part of the island of Capri. You can get here by taking the funicular, which only costs a couple euro and is a very short trip.
In Anacapri, we recommend going to Monte Solaro. To get here, you will need to take a bus up a windy road, which is also quick and cheap.
You can buy tickets for both of these things in person, no problem. The funicular leaves every 15 minutes, and takes 15 minutes to get there.
While in Anacapri, take the chairlift up to Monte Solaro. You can buy tickets in person for 11 euro. The ride up to the top is peaceful, quiet, and breathtaking! Make sure to take your flip flops off if you are wearing them, or bring some other shoes so they don’t fall off!
You thought the view couldn’t get any better, then you get to the top. There are few words to describe the beauty of this place.
Our breath was taken away! So much in fact, we got engaged at the top! If you look closely, you can see the ring box in his pocket. This picture was taken seconds before he proposed!

Where to eat
We didn’t eat much in Capri, as we were sea sick all morning. We did stop at Lollo’s Bar, which you will see basically right when you get off the ferry.
It is right on the water, so you get a nice view. They have tons of pizza, so we split one between the two of us.
They also give you a basket of tasty breads! It was tasty and refreshing after a morning at sea.
If you are staying in Sorrento, we recommend Ristorante Fuoro. It is located in downtown Sorrento, which is hustling with street performers and events.
It can be a little tricky to find, so give yourself some time to find it if you make reservations.
We celebrated our engagement here, and were given wayyy to much limoncello! If you have never tried limoncello… you’re missing out!
Getting back to your hotel
You can get back to your hotel the same way you got to Capri, by using the ferry. Make sure you make it to the ferry on time, though, as the last ferry leaves around 7:30pm.
